Megan’s Story

My name is Megan Gunderson. I am 28 years old and living with Cystic Fibrosis.

Over the past 10 years, I have had an uphill struggle with medical debt. I am still struggling as it has been very difficult obtaining the proper health insurance for my needs. With the help of the Breath of Life Foundation, I had been able to get out from underneath some of my medical debt. It is hard enough being stricken with this terrible life-threatening lung disease, being weighed down by health insurance and medical bills is the last thing that I want or need while going through my health struggles.

Currently, I have been receiving treatments for my third lung exacerbation in my adult life. I have been working hard throughout the years to stay out of the hospitals and to maintain my lung disease. I would say I have done a fine job, I haven’t seen the inside of a hospital room in 8 years! My CF Team and I decided it was time for me to go in for a clean out right before Thanksgiving. I am coming up on my last week of IV antibiotics in which I have been administering at home on my own for 2 weeks.

I am grateful that in my time of need, I was able to receive help from the Breath of Life Foundation. Although I have Cystic Fibrosis, it doesn’t have me! One day CF will stand for Cure Found!
